Occupy Wall Street? Anonymous Threatens To ‘Erase’ Wall Street -Video

leave a comment »

| The New Cyber Civil Rights Movement |

Anonymous is joining the Occupy Wall Street protestors — virtually — by threatening to “erase” the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on October 10. Anonymous, a loosely-associated group of “activists” (Internet hacker activists) has certainly created a strong record of carrying out their threats, usually involving crippling distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks including taking down the Internet sites of God Hates Fags, Koch Brothers-funded conservative group Americans for Prosperity (AFP), and hacking Bank of America Internet operations, reportedly resulting in accessing evidence of “corruption and fraud.”

CNBC adds,

It’s not clear if this would just be an attack on the NYSE website or on the electronic communications of the exchange itself. Obviously, an attack on the latter would be a lot more serious since it could interfere with financial market operations.

A spokesman for the NYSE could not be reached immediately.

Meanwhile, The Atlantic Wire posits that this is “probably a fake.” Don’t be so sure.

The video threat (below) states,

TRANSCRIPT:
_________________

Greetings, Institutions of the Media.

We are Anonymous.

The events transpiring within Wall Street have caught our eye.

It seems that the government and Federal agencies enjoy enforcing the law a little bit too much. They instate unjust laws as mindless automatons, blindly following orders with soulless precision.
We witness the Government enforcing the laws that punish the 99% while allowing the 1% to escape justice, unharmed, for their crimes against the people.

We have observed this same Government failing to enforce even the minimal legal restraints of Wall Street’s abuses. This Government who has willingly ignored the greed at Wall Street has even bailed out the perpetrators that have caused our crisis.

We will not stand by and watch the system take over our way of life.
We the people shall stand against the government’s inaction.
We the people will not be witnesses to your corruption and ill gotten profits.
We will not labor for your leisure.
We will not assist you in any way.

This is why we choose to declare our war against the New York Stock Exchange. We can no longer stay silent as the population is being exploited and forced to make sacrifices in the name of profit.

We will show the world that we are true to our word. On October 10th, NYSE shall be erased from the Internet. On October 10th, expect a day that will never, ever, be forgotten.

Vox Populi, Vox Anon.
The Voice of The People is The Voice of Anonymous.
We are Legion. We are the 99%.
We do not forgive. We do not forget.
Wall Street: Expect us.

The Budding Stars of Occupy Wall Street – National – The Atlantic Wire

with one comment

It’s a leaderless movement, decentralized and purposefully unfocused. Decisions are made by a consensus process that steers carefully clear of patriarchy or singular authority. The Occupy Wall Street movement self-consciously avoids thrusting individual members into the media’s eye.

The minutes from its organizing meetings use first names only, as do some of the organizers in their media interviews, such as this Beta Beat feature on the occupation’s web team. But in spite of themselves, a few individuals have been picked up by the press, in general, as representing the movement’s spirit and its message, if not its actual organizational backbone. On Tuesday, the New York Observer pointed out that the coverage of the occupation had morphed into a full-fledged media circus, so we expect to see more stars of the movement emerge as the gaggle of cameras starts to settle on its favorites.

Cuban official media accuses U.S. of preparing SMS-based “cyberwar”

leave a comment »

HAVANA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) — Cuba accused on Monday the United States of “preparing a spam SMS cyberwar” with the Caribbean island nation to disrupt SMS service to over 1 million Cuban mobile phone users, said the country’s official website Cubadebate in an article.

“The U.S. government hired a telecommunication company from Maryland to design a computer system capable of sending 24,000 text messages weekly to the mobile phone users in Cuba,” said Cubadebate.

It said Washington Software Company, Inc. plans to design a text messaging system that can’t be blocked by the Cuban telecommunication company even if it contains “messages against the country.”

Cubadebate also said the operation is “in clear violation of Cuban laws and international agreements.”

Shortly after officially taking over power in 2008, Cuban leader Raul Castro allowed ordinary Cubans to use mobile phones, a service which used to be open only to some government agencies and foreigners in Cuba.

Presently, more than 1.2 million Cubans own mobile phones, accounting for roughly 10 percent of the population.

Anonymous announces Operation Invade Wall Street – National Anonymous | Examiner.com

leave a comment »

As part of their on-going support and sponsorship of Occupy Wall Street, the nebulous and notorious international Internet hacktivist collective known as Anonymous announced a new Operation Monday: Operation Invade Wall Street.

The Anonymous announcement promises that “On October 10th, NYSE shall be erased from the Internet. On October 10th, expect a day that will never, ever, be forgotten.”

Operation Invade Wall Street is scheduled to be a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack targeting the New York Stock Exchange. A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is an orchestrated attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users, in this case the announced target is the New York Stock Exchange.

Representatives of Anonymous released two separate videos in the last 24 hours – one meant  for the public, and another meant for the media. Both videos articulate a  justification for Operation Invade Wall Street.

Anonymous accuses Chaoda of fraud – FT.com

leave a comment »

Anonymous, the amorphous cyber-collective, has made its first foray into securities analysis by accusing a scandal-plagued Chinese company of fraud.

Self-proclaimed members of the computer hacking group released a 38-page “Anonymous Analytics” report on Tuesday alleging that Chaoda Modern Agriculture, one of China’s biggest vegetable producers, had falsified its financial statements and swindled investors.

Chaoda, which is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange with a market capitalisation of $460m, is one of dozens of Chinese companies that have been accused of fraud in recent months, often by short-sellers seeking to profit from a decline in their shares. China Forestry, a Chinese forestry company listed in Hong Kong, and Sino-Forest, its rival listed in Toronto, have also had their shares suspended from trading this year as regulators have probed their financial statements.

In its report, Anonymous alleged that management have funnelled more than $400m out of Chaoda “under the cover of inflated capex spending and related party transactions”, having raised more than $1.1bn from investors since its initial public offering in 2000.

Twitter: Hackers hijack Chavez critics’ accounts – The Times of India

CARACAS: Over months, Venezuelan TV soap opera writer Leonardo Padron built a Twitter following of about 250,000 people by posting more than a dozen messages a day, many of them skewering President Hugo Chavez.

On Aug. 29, Padron issued a typical shot: “Chavez knows of the immense death toll that there is in this country, so why such indifference to the subject of insecurity?”

Three days later, however, the tweets picked a new target: Padron himself. “In no way have I contributed to combat racism, discrimination, cultural alienation,” one note read. “My soap operas feed these evils in our society.”

Hackers grab Goldman CEO’s personal data – CBS News

(CNET)  Hackers today released personal information for Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Officer Lloyd Blankfein.

The document, posted to the Pastebin Web site, includes the CEO’s age, recent addresses, details of litigation he has been involved in, as well as registration information for businesses, but no sensitive information such as financial data.

Goldman Sachs representatives did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment.

A group using the handle “CabinCr3w” took credit for the data dump, but did not say why Blankfein was targeted. Goldman Sachs benefited from the U.S. government’s bailout of insurance giant American International Group and is accused of practices that contributed to the economic crisis.

On Monday, CabinCr3w released information about a New York police officer who is seen in videos spraying pepper spray into the faces of women protesters who are penned behind a police barricade net at the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrations. The officer, identified as Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna via videos and close-up photos of his face and name on his badge, appears to walk over to the group of women and spray them directly in the face unprovoked.

Russia seeks to outlaw inciting revolt abroad via cyberspace | World News |Axisoflogic.com

leave a comment »

The country has drafted a UN convention designed to stop regime change being incited externally through cyberspace.

Developed together by Russia’s Security Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the draft states that “using information technology as a means of aggression and destruction,” and “the mass psychological brainwashing of the population aimed at destabilization of the society and the state,” represent major security threats.

The draft stresses that countries have the right to establish their own rules in their own cyberspace and control it according to their national law. At the same time, the document obliges the states to protect the freedom of speech on the Internet. All the control measures, the officials say, are aimed at maintaining national security.

Once the controversial document leaked to general public, human rights activists around the world immediately dubbed it a violation of people’s right to freedom. Moscow, however, does not agree with such statements.

MEXICO CITY — Police found a woman’s decapitated body in a Mexican border city on Saturday, alongside a handwritten sign saying she was killed in retaliation for her postings on a social networking site.

The gruesome killing may be the third so far this month in which people in Nuevo Laredo were killed by a drug cartel for what they said on the internet.

Morelos Canseco, the interior secretary of northern Tamaulipas state, where Nuevo Laredo is located, identified the victim as Marisol Macias Castaneda, a newsroom manager for the Nuevo Laredo newspaper Primera Hora.
